Profit Through Productivity
This programme has been introduced across the East of England in conjunction with the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), employer groups like the BHA and networks of 'hands on' industry experts.
The programme is heavily subsidised, so fees can be very attractive indeed. These subsidies go towards paying for benchmarking, one-to-one business improvement sessions and best practice workshops. Basically you pay £99 plus VAT and the value you get back in advice and training is £3,000.
For more information, please visit the Best Practice Forum PTP website.

“Beyond 2010” - Golden Opportunity for your business
We are all very aware that times are hard on the economic front, and that corporate budgets have been cut back.
The downturn has not diminished the need for training; if anything it has increased it. You know that service delivery has to be of the highest grade if you are to stand above others and win the business. Beyond 2010 is enabling businesses to harness their full potential by providing sector specific training advice and funding.
New funds are being made available from the European Social Fund and East of England Development Agency to help businesses to provide key training. Up to 50% of the cost of a training programme is available up to a maximum grant of £2500.00 per business.
This is to do with all kinds of higher level training, but with one thing in common - to help you build your business head and shoulders above the rest. How does it work?
Businesses employing up to 250 staff can contact Jenny Sheppard at EET to discuss higher level training needs in detail and she can then identify which training courses would best meet your needs. You can either find a training provider or Jenny will help you find one. She will then visit you and complete an analysis of the need and then will apply for the grant on your behalf.
There are no catches - this is a straightforward incentive plan to help keep businesses on track with their business plan. In effect you can buy in your training at half price. Beyond 2010 also includes the Response to Redundancy programme. This provides advice, guidance and re-training opportunities to those caught up in the current problems facing the Region’s economy. Beyond 2010 is managed by the Essex Development and Regeneration Agency.
For more information, please contact Jenny Sheppard at jsheppard@eet.org.uk or call 01284 727493.
Funded OnLine Customer Service Training

Would you like to increase sales, customer satisfaction and employee performance? Customer service and sales training will help you achieve this and more through a simple and flexible e-learning programme. This pilot is ideal for tourism businesses incorporating a restaurant / pub / bar / cafe - future versions will focus on Hotels (front-of-house, guest relations etc.)
* Sales targeting - the programme breaks down incremental sales targets into sizes and amounts that staff can achieve.
* Customer satisfaction- gaining a daily perspective of your performance from at least one customer in terms of: - speed, product knowledge, value for money, friendliness, efficiency.
* Employee performance -it provides employees with checklists that set the benchmark for: - basic skills (product knowledge and technical skills); customer skills (understanding their motivations for eating/drinking out and their expectations) and sales skills (creating and maximising sales).
Businesses using this programme in a class room environment have seen increased sales in excess of 10%, employee turnover halved and employee longevity doubled. This pilot will help determine whether a similar programme delivered on-line will have the same effect.
